Sitting in Anxiety

Dear Sister

I was doing some research this morning for my IOP class. It turns out that we, as addicts, damage a part of our brain that handles stress and negative emotions. It makes us extra sensitive to these emotions. It is in addition to the damage we have done to our dopamine receptors.

I found this interesting because I struggle with feeling stressed a lot, anxious, and depressed. In a way it was comforting because it means I don’t just have a negative personality, there is actually something going on in my brain that is allowing me to fall into these negative states easier than most people.

If I can find the article I will retype it here in the coming days.

As for me, I am, well stressed. LOL

I have IOP tonight. Intensive Outpatient Program. We are working on posters for National Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, 2022…
