After a tender session with my therapist, where she held our hand as we sobbed, where she held us, as we broke down and cried uncontrollably, I wrote this poem.
What tenderness is this
that I find in your hands?
I thought it was found
in books and movies
fantasies and fiction
Yet, the gentleness in your touch
and the kindness in your words
leaves my soul smiling
The way your fingertips
brush on my skin
helps heal all
that was once broken inside me
I never even knew it was possible
to experience such a love
as tender as yours –
this tenderness
is exactly what my heart needs
