This county was literally built from the blood sweat and tears of hard-working, talented, and honorable human beings.
We often say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” We understand that to mean, it’ll take time to accomplish a grand task. Workers, back then, only knew this life.. day in and day out.. before sunrise until after sunset. They sawed, hammered, dug, carried, loaded and unloaded, relocated, built, filled and dumped, walked, welded, created.. There was no sense of defeat among the people. There was no “rush” to get it done.
They took pride in their accomplishments. They naturally accepted the tiresome jobs and didn’t complain.
Growing up, I was taught “Haste makes waste.” If your body and mind are in a state of rush.. It’ll fog your focus.. thus resulting in mistakes that require more time to correct. Amazingly, these workers understood that, too. The physical work and dirty jobs…
