I don’t like talking about this subject because I feel everything that society tells me I should feel while being on Social Security Disability is true. Society views welfare, WIC, EBT, SSD, SSI… as handouts to lazy people who refuse to work. In some cases, it’s true. I’ve seen it amongst people who I personally know could sustain a job, but it’s much easier to collect a check or swipe an Access card at the grocery checkout than actually try to love themselves, take care of themselves and better themselves. These programs are temporary for some. Some people need help for a time until they can get it together. Others need these programs because they truly cannot function. Physically or emotionally. To some it’s hard to go day by day and do “normal people” tasks.

I was granted SSD when I was 18, but didn’t know I was granted it…
