The time … I was told my son is brilliant.

Here I am fighting to get my son an IEP for special services for kids with disabilities when I am told my son is brilliant.

This is not the first time I hear this.

I don’t know what to do with this info.

I am not the kind of mother who thinks her son is the smartest, best etc and don’t go around saying he is.

He has always been a difficult child.

So I just got off the phone with an educational advocate.

I told her why I am looking to get my son an IEP. We spoke about his behavior in school and his strength.

By the middle of the phone call she tells me, “do you realize your child is brilliant?”

“But he is failing”

“Grades don’t have anything to do with being brilliant. Brilliant people think outside of the box”
